Last 18 months were difficult and definitely different for everyone. It taught us a lot of things about ourselves some good and some bad as well. One thing that I learnt – I love traveling and I craved for it the most. And one place that proved to be my respite from home and my city is Taj Gateway in Nashik.
This 25 years old property is ideally located at approximately 160 km from Mumbai and the drive thankfully takes 3.5 – 4 hours. My husband and I traveled here during monsoon season in both 2020 and 2021.
2 important things we loved about this sprawling hotel are the tasty food and unfailing hospitality.
We had tried almost every item from their à la carte menu the first time around and this time we had opted for an all meals included package and experienced their buffet options. Food is really good with lot of options for vegetarians as well as non vegetarians. My favourites are Methi Murg masala, Mutton Rogan Josh, Green Thai curry, Chilli potatoes (these are deep fried and yumm), appam from their live counter, butterscotch milkshake, macarons, chocolate brownie and fresh watermelon juice.
Taj has unparalleled hospitality. Be it their restaurant staff, reception personnel or sales team. Everyone is always nice and courteous. We had asked them for different things during our stay and every time they either provided us with our requirement or helped us source it. Their F&B and Events Manager, Mr. Kailas had been very attentive and courteous. He is always around to support the staff and the guests. Always eager to fulfil our requests. And a good person to just talk to over tea. The restaurant staff and especially servers Pintu and Protiva were very sweet and hospitable.
The hotel with over 20 acres of lush greenery and landscaped gardens has lot of options to keep yourselves entertained within the property itself. Their active studio has various games for all age groups. You have table tennis, badminton, cricket, carrom, chess and snooker. There’s also a fully functional gym and a swimming pool. Due to COVID 19, the pool is strictly prohibited for the safety of the guests. If you like to sit quietly and enjoy the nature, you must find your way to the zen garden. You can leave your kids in the adjoining kids play area with swings, slides and et al. We also did a picnic in their lawn and sat under the huge banyan tree that dominates the centre of the lush greenery around.
If you want to venture out, you can visit the nearby vineyards. Taj Gateway has complimentary passes for the 3 major vineyards in Nashik – Sula, Soma and York winery. We had visited Sula vineyards and had a great time there wining and dining overlooking the vineyard. There are lot of photo spots to be leveraged and shared on Instagram! (which we did too).
Overall we had a great time on both the occasions of our trip – our honeymoon and our first anniversary celebrations. Since we’ve had a lockdown wedding, we had limited options to travel to but this 5 star hotel proved to be the best choice. Taj Gateway seems to be becoming our annual ritual. Here’s hoping for yet another visit soon!
