Marriage is a big step and we all have some or the other expectations from this union. The on-going lock-down has affected lot of engagement parties, mehndi and sangeet functions and of course the major event called weddings. Though there are people who are waiting for the lock-down to get over to have their dream wedding, there are also people like me who wants to go ahead and get married.
Doing a court marriage in the current scenario is an easier, non-fuss way to start your married union with your beloved. And the best part, court marriage is a very easy process to get from Ms to Mrs. Once you’ve the bride or groom of your choice, here’s what you need to do.

Fill the Online Form
You need to visit, https://mregigr.maharashtra.gov.in/MarriageEntry/frmhomepage.aspx and register. Depending on your residential address, select the district where you will be going to get married. On the next page, enter your and your spouse’s details along with information of the 3 witnesses. Take the print out of the filled form called Notice.
Submit the Notice at the Marriage Registrar office
Depending on the district of your residence, submit the notice at the Marriage Registrar office there along with the self-attested copies of the bride and groom’s photo id and address proof and 3 passport size photos. The office will charge you nominal fee of Rs. 100 to publish the notice online.
For Mumbai district the Marriage Registrar office is at Old Custom House, Fort and for Mumbai Suburban District the Marriage Registrar office is at Khar Telephone Exchange, Linking Road, Khar West.

Select a Marriage Date
The office will ask you to choose a date when you want to get married. This date should be 30 days after the date of notice submission. You need to come to the office on this date along with the mentioned 3 witnesses. All of you need to carry the id proof (Aadhaar card, self-attested) along with 3 passport size photos.
Get Married
You need to go to the office, sign the papers, and say it out loud that you take each other as husband and wife and voila, you’re married! Enjoy the marital bliss…
The office again takes a nominal fee of Rs. 250 and also take the bride and groom’s biometrics for their record.
Collect the Marriage Certificate
If you give a little monetary sweets to the staff there, you’ll receive the marriage certificate on the same day or else they’ll ask you to come collect it after 8 days.
Didn’t I say, the process is simple? And you really don’t need an agent to help you with this. Now, go ahead and share this with your family and friends who are considering to tie the knot at the court. Let me know if you found this useful in the comments section.
This is useful and releases the stress behind the process.. thank u!
