A recently opened addition to the vibrant food scene of Mumbai, Raasta restaurant in Khar boosts of classy and elegant décor spanning across 3-tiers. Yes, Raasta has 2 floors as well as a terrace area open to its customers. The Delhi import is similar in décor and appearance to its Delhi sibling. The Caribbean theme is spot on. There are barrels in lieu of tables, coconut trees and Jamaican maps engraved onto the glass walls. All the element gels together to make you feel like you are sitting in the Caribbean islands.
The menu is eclectic and contains a special cocktail menu called Bongtails which is a must try. The Bong drinks are quite potent and tasty. We visited the place during day time and ordered Jalapeno Cheese Cigars which is a cigar shaped crispy roll of corn, jalapeno and goey cheese. This is a tasty vegetarian starter. The roll was crispy and not oily which was perfect and goey cheese was exactly as the name suggests. Since we liked the starter so much we ordered Penne Alfredo as well which looked nice and tasted good.
In the drinks, we ordered Purple Haze (Bongtail), the classic Long Island Iced tea and Virgin Mojito. All the drinks were nicely made and gave us no reason to complain about. Purple Haze definitely stood out and tasted the best. Also worth mentioning is the elegant way of presenting and serving the drink. It didn’t come in a glass but rather in a science lab apparatus.
The servers are friendly and the service is quick. The place seems reasonable given the quality of the food and drinks but if you just concentrate on the right side of the menu it might appear to be slightly expensive.
The overall damage came up to little more than 2k. Based on my experience, I’m definitely visiting this place again preferably in the night to check out the mood and atmosphere.
